STEAM Box Board

Aminata participated in STEAM Box for three years.  Now she has joined the board to help with community partnerships and grants. Malika Ali is a passionate advocate for educational equity, currently serving as an innovation specialist for the Providence Public School District. As a former researcher and high school science teacher, she is inspired by programs like STEAM Box that empower young people to innovate and lead with curiosity and critical thought. STEAM Box Youth

Matthew Sylvia led the coding to develop this app with the STEAM Box engineering team.  He is a sophomore at Dr. Jorge Alvarez High School. Steam box is the best “you better believe it!!”   Hi my name is Danielle Garcia but everyone calls me Danie, I’m very outgoing and kind (at times). Sometimes I come to school because it’s a STEAM Box day.  If it wasn’t for STEAM Box I wouldn’t be who I am.    I would be skipping school and failing. That’s the thing about STEAM Box, it motivates you to do better. The people are so fun to be around its crazy. I couldn’t have found a better group of friends if it wasn’t for STEAM Box. Inhibited boy

People think he’s too skinny. He’s tall and colored, he should be playing basketball. They say “You’re tall for nothing” because he doesn’t play any sports. They beat him with words and the girls.. well the girls think he should model. How could he if he feels like a failure. To his parents, friends and mankind itself. He would love to model, clothes, hairstyles all sorts of things. He has these fashion shows in his room every day from 5pm – 7pm. He likes house music and rock but not in front of his friends. He would not risk being called a “faggot” or “gay”. So he puts on his shades of cool and acts with many attitudes. For him there’s no hope, no love and no okay. He is inhibited....
