ADA DE LA CRUZ

Impact on STEAM Box: During the early years, as STEAM Box began to develop at Inspiring Minds in Providence, Ada was eager to embrace learning through technology. She participated in a few of our programs, but she was instrumental on our first student advisory board. She reinvented our English Learners program by leading our hiring committee and bringing on a new instructor with very little experience. She and the advisory board chose correctly as the new instructor, Nicole Guzman and the other students redesigned the Rosetta Stone based program. They mixed in a number of hands-on opportunities as a companion to the current offering.

When asked about her experience at STEAM Box, she pointed at several moments like the English Learning and working in teams with new people. She also humbly points out: “I’m very grateful for every moment of it.”

Graduation and beyond: Ada graduated from Central High School in 2012

She currently uses her STEAM skills as a phlebotomist at Roger Williams Hospital.
