STEAM Box in their own Words
Here’s What the STEAM Box youth have to say:
It’s not everyday that you come to a program and one day you’re talking about Anime, and the next day you’re designing an arcade cabinet. It’s so different from anything I’ve experienced in High School. -Chris, Alumni Class of 2016 Alvarez High School
I was very moved by Japan, I loved the way things were over there, then again it could have just been because I had a little more freedom. I really do see myself going back, and experiencing everything again. And of course I’m thankful because you made this whole experience happen, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity I was given. I really hope to travel back to Japan, and start something new. -Nicole, 10th Grade Alvarez High School
STEAM Box is awesome. I love STEAM Box so much, it’s so fun. It’s not Roberto’s program, it’s our program. -Manami, Alumni Class of 2018 Alvarez High School
Japan was the best thing that's ever happened to me in my whole life so far! Being there made me realize that I needed to be more motivated to do the things I love and see new and exciting things on this Earth. After coming back to the U.S. I'm determined to do and change for the better and work hard so I can be able to see more of Japan in the future to learn and experience the beauty of their rich culture. -Luis, 11th Grade Alvarez High School
My experience at STEAM Box made me feel like I can actually build something. Stuff doesn't break in my hands. -Carolina, Alumni Class of 2017 Alvarez High School
It changed my way of thinking. Waking up every morning just not motivated to do anything and just seeing how life is depressing and sad but since I went on this trip, it made me think that life isn't always depressing and there’s more to living than just working, stress and depression. I felt as I knew everything already in life that I just wanted it to end. This trip made me have a little more light in my life than before. I'm grateful that I was able to go on an amazing trip and see the other side of the world. Thank you Roberto! -RJ, 11th Grade Alvarez High School
