Joseph Nicoletti from GhostVolta.com recently sat down with STEAM Box founder, Roberto Gonzalez. They discussed the arcade cabinet and the past present and future of STEAM Box. It’s a good read. It can be found here:
http://www.ghostvolta.com/steam-box-powers-childrens-interest-education-gaming/ Youth at Alvarez High School used the STEAM Box makey to develop their own gaming controller. They were tasked with controlling Mario for a functional, and comfortable game session. Using Play-Dough, a ground wire, and a USB cable, the students crafted this controller.
STEAM Box is creating an AI (artificial intelligence) for it’s TutorTron3000. The TutorTron, developed by our Alvarez High School Youth, already has motion sensing controls thanks to the Microsoft Kinect 2.0. It also has a Khan Academy interface.
Now, with this AI, the high tech smartboard is transformed into a digital butler that can talk to you, perform computing commands through conversation, and it can even detect your mood. One of our freshmen motion captured the face of the AI in her own image. |
